  1. Received the apex and fh35 today (unbeknown to Mrs Jones🤐). Not had time to unbox the apex and suss it out but got the fh35 up and running...…WOW! Now admittedly I haven't tried anything else to compare it with, but to say I think its the dogs danglies is an understatement! Was watching mice running about the field earlier! Now I've heard the phrase 'game-changer' thrown about when it comes to thermal many times, but really can see why now! Cant wait to get out and use it properly. Proper chuffed with it!😀
  2. Thanks guys. I'll be eating beans on toast for the foreseeable as its a huge chunk of money for me! As I was also looking at day/night scopes to mount on one of the air rifles for rats and squirrels, when I saw the package deal saving I thought it made sense-just don't tell the missus 🤐 I currently use a pard007 for night shooting (which I rate highly when used with a Black Sun IR Illuminator) that I clip to the rimfires and 250. Along with the use of the FH35 I hope to be able to increase my ability to catch up with the more skittish foxes. Have used a hand held nv spotter for years and know for certain that the display shining back in my face has spooked a lot of foxes.
  3. Well I've gone for the Hik FH35/Hik Alpex bundle from optics warehouse. Hopefully it will meet my expectations!
  4. Would I be able to differentiate between charlie and sheep easily out to 300 odd yards?
  5. Evening all, I'm looking at getting a new thermal spotter in the coming months. Would like some recommendations on what to get. Its pretty daunting looking at what's on offer! Budget is around £1.5k. Predominantly for foxing, but would like to use it when on the the squizzers and also ratting with the air rifle. Not really concerned about all the bluetooth/recording etc software on some of the models, just want an easy to use, dependable unit that gives me good quarry id.
  6. So Mr Drakefords thinking behind this 20mph is fewer injury’s/deaths etc. As being hit at 20mph is safer than being hit at 30……….Why don’t we all drive around at 10mph for a few weeks as that’s got to be safer than 20 according to Drakefords reckoning? See what happens then……carnage!………….but then again 5mph got to be safer again🤔
  7. After my second pair of Le Chameau Mouflon boots have basically fallen apart again (will never buy another pair of boots from this company!) I'm in the market for a good quality pair of wellies. What do you guys use and what do you recommend? Ive been looking at the Aigle Parcours 2's, good reviews. Need something that keeps my feet warm in the winter yet breathable in the warmer weather. Also comfort is obviously paramount. Cheers
  8. totally agree, this is what I was informed by a local rfd though? The renewal is going in next week so I'll soon find out.
  9. I don't want it stipulated as an nv rifle on my cert as i still would like to use it whilst not in the hides during daylight hours
  10. Thanks for the answers guys I think the scorpion would be good as a dedicated hide/truck rifle offering reasonable shot count (20 or so). The ultra or another small carbine wouldn't offer enough shots. My rapid gives around 50 shots per charge but weighs a ton and is very long, its a right chore in a hide. A good quality bull pup would probably be great but are silly money! Not sure what my county firearms dept are like issuing same calibre slots- hopefully they will be ok with the reasoning, we shall see.
  11. i havnt been on here for a few years so lots to catch up on and get booted off every few minutes
  12. My renewal is up soon as was wondering whether to add another .22 air rifle to my license. I already own a mk2 Rapid, but due to the amount of hide shooting I do, I would like something more compact/shorter to use in the hides. I have a very 'low mileage' BSA scorpion multi shot that is great to use in the hides as its a lot smaller. The only draw back is as its sub 12ft/lbs its less forgiving at non pre determined ranges. Couple of questions:- Firstly, I've never gone down the road of converting a sub 12 to FAC, (this would have to go to gun dealer to get it done and put on license?). Is this an easy thing to do paperwork wise? Secondly, what kind of shot count would I be looking to get running at approx 30 ft/lbs-20 shots? Thanks in advance.
  13. Also Amazon doing good deals on the Victure Mini Wildlife Camera 16MP 1080P just shy of £34. Just an extra heads up if anyone looking for one👍
  14. No longer looking for one thanks.
  15. Ah, apologies, didn’t realise some thieving scum pinched it😬
  16. Gutted, but what a game! For a neutral that must have been fun! Had everything that game! Fair play to the French👍
  17. Don’t think Wales look too shabby either. Zammit and Josh are working hard and creating problems for France. Cracking game so far......c’mon 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
  18. Indiscipline creeping in again from the English. Ireland are playing well, going through the phases nicely.
  19. Looking forward to the next two games, should be a lot better than watching the whipping boys getting hammered again. I hope the Italian youngsters get it together soon as at the moment they are guaranteed 5 pointers. Anyway, good luck Ireland and Wales👍
  20. As title, anyone got one they no longer need/use? Thanks
  21. Great scopes for the money and work well with pards 👍
  22. I know what you mean, I’ve held off, have used a long extension legged Harris for years which is great, but have had a fair amount of shots I couldn’t/wouldn’t take due to not being able to steady the rifle in a standing position. Will do mate, will be towards the middle of the month as I’m spent out till payday🤣👍
