Salop Matt
What is the assossiated reliability like with the above two brands ? I am looking for a pup action and the 2 that I have my eye on are: Winchester ranger 120 - 12g - £120 - MC although only half with it - wood stock. or Mossburg - 20g - synthetic stock - 3 months old - MC with all chokes - £300 I cant decide which is the better deal ! Can anyone offer any advice as I know nothing about either brand ? Cheers
HDAV
well as one is a 12 and the other a 20 and one is £120 the other £300 there not exactly very similar is it a sect 2 or 1 pump your after? For £325 ish you can get a brandnew Winchester SXP http://www.sportsmanguncentre.co.uk/product/884b631d7d25283024768464/WINCHESTER+SXP+Black+Shadow+12G/ Only one i have experience of is the Mossberg 500 in .410 which apart from needing cleaning now and again is very reliable but hasnt seen alot of use
Mungler
I have had a 12G Winchester Ranger pump and I have a 12g Mossberg 500. Buy the Mossberg. They work faultlessly and are actually nice to shoot - I got a multichoke barrel for mine, or rather I found one on the floor of a gun shop. I have had mine for a few years now and I doubt I'll ever sell it. It's brilliant on the farm and it gets treated very badly and never cleaned. Whilst the Winchest is "iconic" it's heavy, nasty to shoot and the sight picture is poop. Give it a swerve.
Scully
Out of your two choices I would personally go for the Mossi, even though a 20 is more expensive to feed.I really like Winchesters but the 120 never had the following that it's predecessors had. Some 120's were fitted with 1200 barrels but I think it was the Remi' 870 that killed sales of the 120.Plastic looking wood didn't do it any favours either.
