Trouble with hornady 58gr .243??

Recommended Posts

try 70 grain blzkings mate. i know the 58 vmax are faster but you look at the drop charts out to 300 yards and there isnt much in it. and you know when it hits the 70 is going to hit with more force.

ive seen my mates 243 with 70 grain bullets. on fox and the blizkings are superb

they certainly are J, dropped another 2 tonight both 180yds and definitely weren't going any where after impact

Perhaps if you contact Hornady and pose the problem to them ?

The reason I suggest this is I use only 40 grain V-max but at 3,600 fps I have only had one 'runner' and that was a poor shot corrected very quickly.

There again though - if you lose confidence in your ammo thats half the battle lost so better to change to one which gives more confidence.

cheers

Adds a bit of weight to the argument that the little 17 bullet is really adequate for fox when you have runners using a bullet with a lot more energy.I have had similar with the 223 in the fact that the round didnt seem to expel the usual energy on impact,so perhaps there is an arguement for to hard a lead!!!!
