kobidog
I am going roost shooting tomorrow in a small wood of about 1 acre, although it is small alot of woodpigeon roost in it as it is mainly made up of conifers with a few large oak trees. I have an idea though and i am not sure if it would work so i thought i would ask the more experienced people on hear what they think of it. If i set out some floaters and maybe a rotary just outside of the small wood in the field would this help encourage birds in to the wood to roost? thankyou
pigeon street
for me the best thing about roost shooting is you don't have to talk loads of stuff. just a pocket of cartridges a gun and the dog. Simple But if i was going to take anything it would be a couple of lofters to put up to bring them into the tree's.
pigeon street
Don't forget it will be getting dark when you pack up as well. the less you have to put away the better.
Blackpowder
Keep within range of the oak trees early on, as pigeon sometimes like to sit on bare branches, especially if they are getting the last of the sunshine, before dropping in to roost.
