Alex C
Hi, I have to work near Crewe (Sandbach) a couple of days per week for the forseeable and was wondering if there were any Clay grounds i can shoot at while down there? I will be there mid week so can shoot evenings (I finish around 6pm) I dont mind if this is a commercial ground but would like to hear of any small regular local shoots i can go along to. Also as i will be away is it ok to leave my gun in the boot of the car in a secure works car park during the day, i will keep the butt end in my work bag, and take it in to the hotel with me at night? Is it legal or would it have to be locked away? Cheers for any Help Alex
Greenhunter
There are several places to shoot at weekends but as far as I'm aware Catton at Frodsham, Hodnet in Shropshire and possibly Kingsley Moor, the other side of Stoke, are the only ones that open weekdays and some evenings. Hodnet is Tuesday night. Not sure about Catton or Kingsley. Not much help I guess but its all I know! GH

Mr Potter
Catton Hall near Frodsham is a brilliant ground open for practice only on a Wednesday, from about 10AM with shooting finished by 4PM. If you're in Crewe it might be nearly as quick to get to the old Worsley Grange, now called Manchester Clay Shooting Club, I know they are also open on a Wednesday but until a bit later in the day. All the grounds mentioned have websites so you can get updated days & times from t'interweb. The only ground I'm sure opens on a Friday is Sealand (North Wales Shooting School) The closest to Crewe will be Cloudside but these others are, at most 45 mins away.
