utectok
Hi people I recently bought an escort for my daughters birthday (20bore youth model). I thought I had better test it It cycles rounds fine a couple of jams in a hundred carts so pretty good imho. The gun is pretty new (60 rounds through it apparently) so probably needs bedding in? More worryingly it just goes click quite often. no bang no dent in the primer. You pull the trigger and nothing happens just a click from the firing pin? What could be the cause of this?? :hmm: Any ideas I'd l;ike to solve it be fore the big day!! Thanks Will
Markio
Do you let the bolt slam shut/forward under it's own power when you put the first cartridge in? If not then do!

poorpeet
As has been said when you put the first cart in let the bolt slam forward. I know it's counter intuitive to those with mechanical sympathy but there you go. If you do that and it still happens strip and clean it (in fact strip and clean it anyway)and make sure the o rings in good condition. Strip and clean the bolt as well just to make sure. It shouldn't be that bad after 200 rounds but you never know. You can down load the manual from the Hatsan wedsite.
silver pigeon 3
As Markio says, you must let the bolt slam forward as otherwise the firing pin will not reset, also make sure the carts are fully pushed into the mag as this is another cause of jams A lot of people will knock the Hatsans but for a couple of hundred quid I think they are good value

vole
MY Escort (12g ) plus many others had a problem of a weak spring causing light strikes . Easy fix if that is your problem . If it is nearly new get onto Edgars .
nasher
As said before if you dont let the breech slam shut on the first cart and manually move the shuttle forward the gun wont be properly cocked, push the shuttle forward and it will move about 10mm and click it will then fire
utectok
Well I stripped it down took out the hammer spring and stretched it a bit mmmm fun to put back in lol. took it back up the hill and followed the slamming shut routine. It missfired again a couple of times through the first box..... Then it went fine for the next 75 carts. Perhaps it need a couple of hundred loosened through it to shake it up a bit?? Hope that's the last of it! One thing I noticed was lots of fine plastic dust in the mechanism from the carts casing is this normal? Or is there a sharp edge somewhere shaving a bit of the cart casing? Thank for all the advice !!!
