miffy
Just got back from a quick foxin trip. Arrived at a favourite foxing field and got ready on the bonnet of the landy with the rifle. Turned the lamp on and sure enough there was a fox about 60 yards away, i squeezed the trigger and down he went, another one out of the way. had a quick scout round but never seen anything else. It started snowing shortly after i shot this one so we decided to call it an early night.

Axe
Miffy, good work. We have an area which up until now was riddled with them. We'd trun up and within minutes had got one, each and everytime.
miffy
Miffy, you should use a .223 and avoid leaving those terrible stains on the grass! I could've used the .22 rimmy at that range. The .22/250 doesn't usually do that much damage though to be honest and 95% of the time i dont get any exit wound at all, but last night it did make a bit of a mess The last few nights it has been -8 here , apparently the coldest in a decade. It has been cold Frank but not quite -8, we had heavy snow not long after we went lamping so we called it a night. The coldest i've been lamping in is -5 and that was chuffin cold, stood in the back of the landy the wind chill factor felt like it was about - 40, there was ice on the roof all around me which made the shooting even harder as the rifle was slipping around as i was trying to shoot We have an area which up until now was riddled with them. We'd turn up and within minutes had got one, each and everytime. The area where this dog fox was shot is one of my hot spots for fox, i must have shot approx 150 foxes from the few fields that are there (approx 30 acres) in the last 3 years. Its close to our phesant pen too
