fortune82
I had a blast at some clays this afternoon and fired 150 Hull Comp X 21 gram cartridges. The kills I was getting were excellent as was the lack of recoil. Being a fibre wad every so often I got great puffs of confetti out the barrel. Does this mean the fibre wad is breaking up in the barrel? Why does it happen with some cartridges and not others?
Teal
Yes, these cartridges are notorious for the clouds of confetti! Not sure why, perhaps some costs have been saved as they are a budget cartridge, like you I've had good results with them though .
BlaserF3
I've had no bother with them. Are you storing them where it's cold?
BerettaSV10
I have seen reports that some of the newer Hull comp x 21G fibre giving off connfetti while offers are clean. Don't think its the wad breaking up more likely the outer wrapping around the wad.
Guest cookoff013
i dont know, but i think that the wad is compressed less. the 28g loads compress the wad more. the lighter cartridges dont. the 28g loads squish the wad so that it is more compressed, the larger, wads for the lighter shot charge isnt compressed as much s blows up at the end of the barrel. COACH
The odd thing is that they use to be very clean but the confetti thing which happens on about 50% of the Comp X 21g is a recent thing. Hull say that they have changed nothing at all. I think that their wad supplier in Europe may have done so then. Such a shame. It needs sorting that, its ruining the best fibre cartridge on the market.
Chokemeister
I used them, the patterns are first-class. I only use 28g now as I like lots of shot at distance. I wouldn't worry about the blast of fibrewad cloud, I actually think it's pretty neat. It trains you to never be fooled that the wad is a chip break. Just this week alone I watch an A class shooter not take his second barrel, as he thought the glimpse of plaswad was a chip off the clay. He got called a miss. When you always have a cloud of wad, you always look closely for a proper clay break. At least I do. The super-fast Hull Sovereign fibrewad shells do this in a big way too, and they are one great cartridge. Best for Sporting I ever used so far.
