XD2
Hey all, just received my SGC in the post and wanted to tell someone, as I won't exactly be shouting it about to people I know I have nothing but praise for Manchester FLU for how helpful, friendly and efficient they have been. In case anyone is interested here is how it went: Sent App off on the 24th Jan They called my Counter Sig on the 26th FEO phoned me on the 9th Feb and said get a safe I let her know on the 14th it was installed She came on the 16th and checked it and interviwed me SGC Hit my welcom mat today So now it is shopping time, I have decided I am probably going to need two one for Trap and one for Sporting, Rough, Pigeon etc. For the trap I was recommended the Miroku MK38 or a Beretta 682/686 I think I am leaning more towards the Miroku (in 32"). For the Sporting gun I have been looking at a few but am quite interested in the Lanber Sporting Delux (in 28"), seems a lot of gun for the money. I have had no real advice on the sporting gun other than you can't go wrong with Beretta. I would love to here peoples opinions/recommendations and also thanks for letting me get that out Looking forward to getting out much more then I have been able to. David p.s. sorry if this wasn't the right forum to post in, but it seemed the most fitting.
apache
You could get one multi-choke gun, but it's less fun that way. I'm a Beretta fan. Hold the guns, see what fits and feels right. You'll know.

XD2
Thanks for the replies. I do quite like the Beretta's the only reason I swayed more to Miroku on the Trap gun is because I am in the middle of doing lessons using one and I am doing quite well with it. I will have to take a trip out to a shop and have a feel of a few see what feels best I think. Still at least now I can go knowing if I like it I can buy it. HDAV
Congratulations great feeling I would suggest get one gun for now 30" sporter will shoot everyhting in MC and make sure it fits if your thin and or tall look at Miroku, if your broader Berretta or consider Browning depending on budget there is a huge range but I would say buy once and buy right. Depends on your experience so far but dont rush into an expensive mistake. IF i had my time again a 30" Cynergy would be top of the list... XD2
HDAV: It was suggested to get 2 because of the way the Trap gun fires for rising targets. It would be ideal to get an all rounder, but I don't mind having 2 if they are better suited to what I will be shooting. I am by no stretch of the imagination rich so budget is a consideration, but not the deciding factor. I am also avergae height (5'9") and average build (just a bit bigger then the chart says I should be ) so not sure where that puts me on the best fit front. Coolhead: Thanks and yes I already have a que of moths waiting to move into my wallet
Simon123
I thought a 32" barrel would be too long for you as only being 5'9", but i may be totally wrong. I'm pretty much the same hight as you if not slightly taller and i see a 30" barrel too long for me so i would definitely see a 32" being too long, i only shoot with a 28" but i also like the 26" setup. I may be totally wrong on the barrel length thing here but that's how i see it. :/ Pick what feel right to you and then stick with it. TBH I agree with you I also didn't think I would need a long barrel, I am aiming for 28" for sporting clays and any rough and pigeon shooting I do as I feel that will be more managable. I think I have been using the 32" for Trap because it is a slower swing so it is making me more steady, the instructor has been very good and I am hitting Clays quite well so I presume it is working for me, however apart from using a Medalist once I have no reference for comparison. Do you shoot Trap with the 28"?

HDAV
I am about the same size 5'9" and 42/44" chest i shoot a 30" 525 trap guns are set for rising targets and tend to have tight chokes. I shoot sporting which has rising, falling, crossing and quartering targets.... as a beginner i would say stick to one gun that does everything then later buy a specialist trap gun i started shooting DTL quite often but soon got bored after shooting English sporting still trying to get to grips shooting gun down. I have shot trap with 27.5" SxS if you point it in the right place you'll break them once your getting 20+ first barrel kills at DTL/ABT then consider a dedicated Trap gun. IF you do decide to shoot skeet, fitasc, sporting, game pigeons etc having a 32" Trap gun will be a bigger disadvantage than advantage! Miroku tend to be very straight in the stock, which may or may not suit your build. Now you have your cert go to a few grounds and hire a few different guns, try a few out also most people are more than happy for you to shoot a few through their gun a member here helps run a clay club near manchester (nicky t?) Do you shoot Trap with the 28"? I do indeed shoot trap with my 28" and im doing well with it, much better than with the 30" tbh. I dont shoot that much trap tbh though, i shoot more of game and i do quite alot of rough shooting, so 28" suites me for the shooting that i do and the fact that i dont like 30"+ barrels. But that's my personal opinion
