shotgun sam
I have weaver mounts on my howa 1500 that regularly come loose when I shoot at the range apart from taking the scope off and tightening the screws is there any other way to stop them becoming loose? garyb
You could loktite them... But really shouldn't have too! Weaver style rings and bases are some of the best and secure forms of scope mounting IMHO. Is it the base that comes loose or the Rings? What make are the rings and bases? wymberley
Can happen dependent upon countless variables. I just happen to know of two NV scope manufacturers that specify "adhesive" when fixing the weaver rails. garyb is right and probably didn't set out to write a thesis so before someone jumps, Loctite is the manufacturer and thread lock is the product required, NOT super glue. garyb
I would bet that "cheap" mounts are to blame here. The OP could do a lot worse than to purchase some Leupold Rings and Bases for his rifle, which I believe comes from a copy Rem 700 action ? What calibre is this rifle? garyb
That is surprising.... the Leupold rings / bases etc are some of the better ones on the market - and they come with torx heads rather than allen keys! Which part comes loose?
shotgun sam
it is the bases and it ist the torx heads. got some loctite thread version so i hope that sorts the problem i will find out next month when i go to blairadam range
