Newby Woodpigeon pursuer

Hi folks!

Finally I got to have a planned, intelligent crack at some local woodies using 12 bore, decoys

I set up near where I've tried before. Bingo!

No sooner had I put the hide up and the decoys out in a very shallow formation at the top of a hill by some roost trees/sitty trees.

Not hundreds of birds (but I bagged 4 in about an hour - coming over sporadically in 1's 2's and small groups) but better than my last go at them with Bakerboy - for us, we hardly saw a bird.

I went a bit later this time- set up by about 13.30, and gentle action flowed- I hit a couple of lovely 'dead in the air' birds which made my day!

If numbers keep improving in my neck of the woods, I reckon you're on for a day or two at the woodies in my area.

In fact, I could have done with you today - make up for some of my misses and give the bag a welcome boost!

Cheers

Hi Duncan,

Good for you, I'm glad you enjoyed your day. I had a good afternoon on Friday too. It certainly boosts your confidence when the birds fly down to the pattern and you get to shoot a few, instead of them sky rocketing past without a glance.

I'll be going out shortly to see what's about on the barley drillings done last week and to re-visit the field of rape I was in on Friday.

Phil
