Take the bolt out and take it with you. You can get bolt holsters to attach to your belt.

Find somewhere in the vehicle as an anchorage point and chain the rifle through the trigger guard.

It's not illegal to leave a disable firearm in a vehicle.

If its a shotgun take the front stock off and squirrel it away somewhere.

OBVIOUSLY make sure everything is out of sight.

When on a double day (ie wildfowling flight and and game shooting) I leave one gun in the car whilst using the other one. I have a gun slip called a securi-slip which has 2 small zips by the trigger gaurd, and whilst in the case you can feed the (provided) security cable through the trigger gaurd and to a fixed mounting point on the car.

I usually loop it aroound the back of the front seat mounts and leave the gun on the back footwell of the car covered with coats ect ect, and leave another empty gun slip (folded on the seat to show there is no gun in the car.

Trev.

If anybody has any better ways I am allways open to new suggestions.
