weldersunited
Hello all, As per title have many people on here had dealings with A + S recently? I applied for co term grant and renewal of FAC/ SGC back at the beginning of jan- had the FEO interview early March and all was well, very helpful and friendly guy and told to expect the certs within 2-3 weeks. Unfortunately this hasn't been the case, the current shotgun cert has expired (yes I did submit the renewal in planty of time 10 weeks prior) and I've had to request a temporary permit to keep things legal- just been told that it could be another month before the proper certs are actually issued. This would put the time after the interview up to 8+ weeks which does seem a tad excessive to me. Speaking to the FLO I'm being told that the person responsible for signing these is off sick and that no one else is available to do this. Has anyone else had similar experiences recently or am I just plain unlucky?!
danimal
i have found them very good a few of my friends have got new certs in the last couple of months! however due to cut backs they are short staffed but generally they are fdoing a fgood job! minghis
Seems a bit excessive as you say. I think I've either been lucky in the past or I've just had a good FEO (Taunton, tall chap, close to retirement, initials GM) so I'd say it was just bad luck. Seems plausible that a sickness could delay things. Dunno about you but I always feel guilty about complaining to them, trouble is we need them a lot more than they need us! Can't help but wonder if the complainers get put to the bottom of the pile, and all that. Good luck, hope it happens soon.

Yes I know waht you mean about chasing them and the application going to the bottom of the pile- catch 22 isn't it?! Looks like i'll just have to sit it out and wait for them to arrive. I asked as similarly, for the past 20+ years of having a shotgun cert I've received nothing but good and prompt service. The FEO initials MT for my area has been really good and very helpful- it's a bottleneck in the office it seems. ATB Andy
COACH
I had the same a few years back with the signer being off sick and things piling up. It`s a ridiculous situation but what can we do ?

Not so different really- mine was for the initial FAC grant also, but also to renew the SGC- have you contacted the FLO about this/ waht di they tell you? abadshot
Just that they are really busy, but I've probably delayed it even longer as initially it was just for target shooting but now I've got some land so just sent in the permission slip, so no doubt that will add at least another six weeks to it! weldersunited
Yes this is what I am being told- I have just received a temp permit for my shotguns as the current ticket had expired- They must be flat out busy or way behind as I am led to believe that there is almost as much work in processing one of these as there is in granting the proper cert. It's valid for a month so hopefully everything should be sorted by then.
