digger
the race i spoke about took place on a track ( straight line on an "old" runway).weather was perfect for it,no moisture on the surface and none in the air. thought the tvr may have trouble laying the power down as some mentioned but my mate went from first to third to fifth and basically kicked jap butt ! top speed from the tvr was a shade over 150,the toy never got above 137 not sure if the best bit was the throaty roar of the blackpool rocket or the " i want another go " whine from andy. bikes didnt get to race as we ran out of time. serious respect for a car that cost less than ten grand and can pull at twenty yards, this i know as the tvr has got me guest list at china whites whereas the evo looks like it belongs doing doughnuts on an industrial estate in slough
dunganick
hehe good to hear mate i was in a win win situation, parents having both a subaru and a TVR but secretly i wanted the TVR to win. The griffith is the only decent made TVR ever, with a proper engine whilst under management of a proper country. bet your wallet weighs a bit more now
digger
your not wrong nick, paid for a few (but not many) drinks in chinas.got first refusal on the griff`,already thinking of selling the missus and then finding the other £9,499 from somewhere. evo says chav with money, porche says hairdresser, aston is footballer, italian junk says too much money but tvr says " i eat fry ups, british beef and **** on supercars for fun". anyone fancy losing a ton or three proving the above wrong ? bring a porche boxter and we expect a free haircut or makeover

SNAKEBITE
but tvr says " i eat fry ups, british beef and **** on supercars for fun". Don't they also say "I have a lifetime membership with the AA?" At one time they had a reputation for breaking down a lot didn't they? Was/is this true? The one thing about Jap cars is the reliability factor, shame because I would go for the TVR everytime myself. Only I never will as I won't have the money, so it's all immaterial
dunganick
TVR's are worth nothing. 10k will get you a high mileage griffith 5.0 18k will get you a mint low mileage 5.0 or maybe even the more unusual 4.0 or the pre cat model. the TVR's do break down alot, however the griffith was probably the best built and most reliable one, my old mans one has had a raidiator and several sets of tires, thats it. However my dad restored his old TVR (an S 3000 i think i cant remember) and was not impressed with the way they wired it etc... and as such left his mark on it by doing it properly. The modern TVR's main weak spot is that awful engine. They now use their own engines, which were designed by a F1 engine designer..... as such they are powerful as anything, however only last one race (a few hundred miles) i told a friend that it was not uncommon to have an engine rebuild on a tuscan at 12k, he didnt believe me, we both put some money on it, he went into a TVR garage and was told he could expect an engine rebuild on a tuscan from 250 miles too 25,000 miles. However breaking down is a good thing..... it slows you down between crashes
jonno 357
Frigthening reading, breaking down, engine rebuilds. That just sums up british workmanship just like that pile of **** that went bust last year rOVER No wonder the UK market is flooded with jap, german and french cars Jonno
SNAKEBITE
But it's a TVR isn't it! The do have class and character. Jap cars are faceless grey machines.
