it's against paypals rules to pay for any items connected with firearms,so gift or not i don't think you would be covered for non receipt,if you did pay by paypal give them a ring and tell them that you did not realise it was against their rules and they may refund payment,

What iritates me about PayPal, is the fact that they tout it as the most secure way of buying things online, but their disclaimers and T&Cs basically enable them to dump you in the mud and forget you if you do get scammed for an amount they don't feel like paying out.

I was scammed out of £400 a few years back. Sold something to someone, posted it off and as soon as they received it they filed an unauthorised transaction claim. PayPal reversed the transaction within a matter of hours of the claim being filed despite the fact I had physical proof that I had sent the item, and that it was a scam.

Following that they refused to even look at the evidence I had because it was not in the form of a tracking number, and then sent a debt recovery agency after me when I refused to pay them back the £400 (they put my account into a negative balance).

I haven't used them since.
