Cranfield
I am getting a new TV and it will be a flat screen, "HD ready" type. My preferred screen size is 27", does it make much difference at this size, if I get a plasma, or LCD screen ?
jonno 357
Ya don't wanna get Plasma. Buy LCD I would wait a little longer for a HD tele. The prices are dropping and the picture quality is still NAFF They still haven't got it quite right yet Jonno

Cranfield
OK, LCD it is. The newspapers were saying the other day that BBC1 and Sky will be broadcasting the World Cup in HD. I need to replace our TV anyway, so I didn't want to buy something now, that is out of date in a year. My "best guessing" technology history is, that I bought Betamax, while everyone else was buying VHS and I got an 8 track player in my car, when everyone else was fitting cassette players. So my track record is not too good.

Don't be put off by people running down plasma, I have had one for over 3 years and it's still as sharp as ever (far sharper than any LCD I have ever seen) But as with most things don't go for the cheapest I looked into it big time when i bought mine and went for the Pioneer PDP43 HDE . It's probably not the best available now, but it was at the time. HD is till over priced and over rated at the moment though, give it another year or so. Sky sports and Sky movies already broadcast in HD but you do need the box as wol says and you need to subscribe as well.

And that Pioneer set had rave reviews when it came out. But make sure it's HD Ready - whether you go for LCD or Plasma. You may have to get another box sometime, but you'll only pay a monthly fee if you get Sky. There will be a Freeview/BBC service in HD as well. And remember, as soon as you've bought one - you'll see it cheaper somewhere else !! Good Luck !! the Lizard
Curly87
Plus HD DVD's are coming out soon, with plasma tv's u could watch it 8hrs a day, every day of the week and it would still last u 21 years and by that time who knows were new technology will be. U will need to however buy a gd surround sound system for it as well just to add the final touch
