Airgun Rabbit Hunting experience

Hi there,

Hoping someone out there will take pity and help out. I Have recently gained my first permission (only 4 acres at a convent!) to shoot rabbits with an air rifle. Have been shooting a little while now but very new to hunting. Could do with going out and getting a few tips from somone who's 'in the know'. It's not really possible to go to my permission as the nuns are pretty cagey about who they let on there (and it's pretty small so not alot of oppertunities once i scare all the rabbits!).

I live in Brentwood (Essex), have insurance (BASA) and am 35, responsible and keen to learn!

Any help will be gratefully recieved (don't mind doing the donkey work if going lamping etc).

All the best

Mike

Hi Mike, TBH you're best to get on your permission and suss out the rabbits habits etc by yourself :good: It's great fun, and once you've learnt the lay of the land, so to speak, and start getting results, you'll feel great that you achieved it all by yourself :D Don't expect great results straight away, it's usual to get a few unwary rabbits quite quickly, then they wise up a little and make things more interesting :)

I'm doing the same thing myself most weekends, and I always go home happy, kills or no kills. My permissions are two gardens [very rural and 1 acre each] and a small bit of attached meadow. My results are mixed and I learn new things each visit

Failing that, try taking someone [without their gun] ;) who's willing to give up some time for you. I'm sure the nuns will appreciate you making as much effort as you can

regards

Chris
