Sergeant
Hey guys, just bin to see another landy (110 CSW V8) after being blown out on the last one.The thing that concerns me is the PAS box makes a nnnnnnnneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeww whiney sort of sound when you turn the steering. I couldnt see any leaks on it and its loud enough to be heard inside when its stationary. It makes the noise at any point in the lock and stops as soon as the steering wheel stops moving. What do you guys recon? Tom
SNAKEBITE
Does it do it whenever you turn the wheel, or just at extreme lock? I have had a couple of cars that did it at extreme lock but never had any problems with them. One of them was a Rover 820 so some of the components MIGHT be related to the landy. new to the flock
Did you check the fluid level?
bingo_beans
They will all do it on full lock, some sort of pressure relief but my power steering is silent (90 CSW 2.5 turbo diesel) the rest of the time. Do you REALLY want a V8? Huge fuel bills?
sussex lad
Had something like this on my 90 .It turned out to be a airlock! So i was told to turn from lock to lock whilst stationary with the engine running fairly quickly to remove the airlock! But don't hold it on full lock for to long as apparently this is bad!!!! But LB is the man to answer this . Snakey, If i ever find out that my landy is related to a Rover 820 i'm gonna torch it !!!
Sergeant
No, I didnt check the fluid level. It happens throughout the steering movement but stops when you stop turning the wheel. The only reason i looked at one with a v8 is cos its already LPG converted!
