Countrybumpkinboy
I am thinking of buying a crosman ratcatcher for shooting around gardens and farm buildings are they any good? Has anyone had one and what do they think of it? Thanks for any help in advance
The Duncan
I've had mine for 12 years and its never let me down. In fact, I've bagged many a rabbit with it around the dutch barns on my permissions, all between 15 and normally 25 yards. 30 if I was absolutely certain of the range. I get about 40 shots per CO2 bulb and have a slightly better than standard 4x20 scope on it. A great little tool
Dexterboyz
thinking about gettin 1 myself, from what i'v read an seen there pretty simple rifles, easy to strip down, maintain and customize urself! only thing i think would be a prob is the power, i think they put out bout 6-7ftlb! does any1 have the answer to that 1? however they do do a valve adjuster on ebay wich you can fit to take it up to 12ftlb. mrikirkby
I just took a couple rabbits with mine tonight, while the missus was doing horsey stuff i had a quick drive round the paddock in the truck and pulled up near 3 rabbits in the corner and shot 2 and fluffed the 3rd ! Mine is a little tuned though so no power problems for me and get a decent silencer and the rabbits tend not to leg it ! Good little cheap guns if you need something quite or are around livestock/horses wear a shotugn is a no no. Bit off fettling to get the power up a bit and a away you go ! bullet boy
My 2 boys started shooting with a Ratcatcher. They are a nice little starting rifle although the Stock is a little long for younsters really! They are designed for Rat Shooting at about 10-20 yards, hence the name Ratcatcher!
J@mes
I took dozens with my ratcatcher in a back garden paddock which was about 1/2 an acre. Completely standard set up, so probably not as powerful or accurate as some more expensive equipment out there. I preferred to develop my fieldcraft and stalking techniques for getting within about 15-20 yards to take shots
mrikirkby
Mine is the King ratcatcher so i cant fit an adjuster. all i have done is change the hammer spring for heavier one and valve spring for a lighter one and will probably enlarge the volume of the valve on the old mans lathe when the current cannister runs out, should be just under the mark then ! google crosman forum and there are few good uns with help on tuning but be carefull as they can easily go over !
