rtaylor
Can I first ask, without being rude, why? I assume you are talking about a wooden stock? I use Vandyck (Van dyke) crystals for my gun stocks, I bought them from Axminster Tools or just Google them (get the smallest bag because they last for ages). They are a water based wood stain, you just mix the crystals with water adding more crystals to get a darker stain. They come out brown but you could mix a really heavy crystal to water mix which would be extremely dark, a few coats would darken it more. Do a test on a scrap bit of wood till you get the right colour. You will need to strip any varnish off the stock first, I use Nitromors for this and them oil it after the stain for a nice finish or you could just varnish it again to seal the wood. Let us know how you get on, a few before and after pictures would be good. Good luck.
Greenhunter
Can't be certain as I haven't looked for years but the DIY stores used to do a range of wood stains. You could try your local Hobbycraft(if you have one) It shouldn't be too difficult to find. You do know that it could be a permanent thing. You won't get it back to its original wood! Good luck with it all. GH
demonwolf444
there was this guy on here earlier who discovered a spray on black finish, that was ruberised and if you wanted rid of it you could just scrape it off look it up you might stumble upon it hope it helps
