Came across a couple there but can't see them in work. Free orange and o2 sim cards at the top of page and a range of deals below. Some quoting as many as 30 MMS from orange per month.

Be sure to check which network offers good coverage in the area before you install the sim in your camera.

All the best

Paul

Am going to buy a remote camera that relays photo of intruders to my mobile and to my email account.

Can anyone knowledgeable about phone deals recommend a PAYG or contract deal that would suit.

As yet I have no idea how many times it will trigger so I had best consider a capped deal just in case.

Unless it's mounted inside a building then it will eat your credit in the first hour or so.

The professional solution to this is to cable the camera back to a hard drive video recorder which is attached to an ADSL line and just get the alarm event manager in the recorder to email/SMS you when it goes off. Then you find an Internet connection, log in to your box and view the alarm events or live action.

Boxes like that start at about £350 these days.

No chance of an ADSL connection where it is hence the hook up via a mobile connection.

Compared to value of stuff stolen already a few wasted text messages will be peanuts.

Real time images via my mobile tells me who and what I am up against BEFORE I have to go up there on my jack jones to sort em out.

Worth a few bob to know who to expect no?

Good point! Actually the service is awful and it may limit the choice of providers but there are so may wrinkles in the phone charging sytem I thought it was worth asking here just in case someone works in the phone industry. Thanks for the input

Ah. Fair enough.

I'd expect real time video to be fairly cack over a bog standard GSM mobile connection - let me know how you get on as it'll be interesting.

GiffGaff mate. Tonnes of minutes and unlimited data.

Looks like I might have missed that super deal

"Free mobile internet ends 4th April

Free mobile internet extended for the final time. If you’re not on a goodybag that includes unlimited data, we'll be starting to charge for data from the 1st April."

That's on the £5 a month deal. The other deals all have unlimited internet.

If you get a sim card off me, it comes with £5 credit. It's a way they reward referrals to GiggGaff

PM me your affiliate link/ ID or whatever they call it and I will have a go. Been reading some posts on their community board and looks like I have to do some settings to use MMS which are normally texted to the phone, not sure how that will work out being a camera but I will have a crack at it.

Pop your address in here and they usually manage next day, but it'll be more like Tuesday that you'll get it now.

As stated on the page, you get £5 for registering via another user, so a nice incentive.
