leeds chimp
Just had a bit of a google search for a recovery firm as my Audi is getting a bit older now and worried something will go bang...had a look at the big names AA and RAC and wanting £50+ for the cover I wanted which is roadside and recovery....which I cant afford. Then start rescue came up...£25.85 for the cover plus I found a discount code taking it dowen to £20.86 for the year. Mainly good reviews about them. As all I want is to be able to get home if the car breaks down or to my local garage. That will do me
jacksdad
I will be giving them a coat of looking at I pay £12 per month for AA full cover, but like you say, I only want someone to get us home should the vehicle die
J@mes
Just make sure they are going to take you home, not "to a garage within 10 miles" which is what most of the cheap cover options are restricted to. My clutch went a few years ago when I was about 140 miles away from home - I had green flag cover through my bank, but didn't realise it was only within 10 miles of a garage. It was sunday night, and I needed to get home. They wanted £1.80+vat both ways to take me home. That's £592. Luckily, even though I had cancelled my direct debit with RAC, they still came out and got me, and took me home. All included in my £7 a month cover. Keep an eye out at local supermarkets and shopping centres, they often have a stand where they will beat internet prices for cover Start Rescue: Nationwide Recovery If, in the opinion of the Recovery Operator, they are unable to repair the vehicle at the roadside, we will arrange for the vehicle, you and up to 6 passengers to be recovered to a garage for repair, your home or original destination, whichever is nearer Edited April 21, 2011 by J@mes
jacksdad
Thats what I'm checking Jack is disabled and I don't want to be harsing around with garages...plus I'm a (self taught) mechanic! I can complete most repairs myself and if not, I want bringing back to my mates garage a mile from home.
bruno22rf
If,by any chance, you shop at Tesco then make sure you have a club card-it doesnt take long to accumulate enough points for the top level RAC cover that costs about £50 in vouchers. leeds chimp
spoke to them about the take home bit and if its a little easy to fix job its a local garage but if its a major job take you home otherwise they have to arrange hotel or onward travel
