CharlieT
I have a slot for one. The problem seems to be that Remington are the only makers of factory guns and ammo. The only rifle they do from stock is the sps varmint which for me is far to heavy and cumbersome. The only solution is to get a custom job and that starts to get rather expensive and I gather magazine feed is an issue. I am trying to decide wether to get a CZ527 and have it re barreled (as there are no mag issues with the CZ) or forget the idea. I will watch this thread with interest. Verminator 66
I would have gone for the 204 I found it much better
njc110381
I'll watch this with great interest. I like the look of it too and am pretty keen on the .17 centrefires. It is a great shame these are only made with a heavy barrel, it would be a perfect walk around bunny and Fox gun. Supposedly the feed issues can be addressed. The case shape is close enough to the parent round that it should feed pretty well without adjustment?

Single shot is no problem nor is the CZ which is controled feed. Seems to me that for what I want, a light truck gun, a nice little 527 would be just the job, all I need is some money. I love my .204 and thought a fireball would give me the same sort of fun, be nice to compare the two side by side. I am starting to get a thing about these small calibers. I have a 595 action with Pacnor 22" barrel and its very handy. I use it out of the truck and off a bipod. Small out to 400yds no problem. The magpies think they're safe at 250-300yds. Before this I owned a .204. Ballistics are similar if you run the 25g Vmax bullets in the .17. Mine are going at 4000 f/s and have a BC of 0.23 which actually beats the 32g Vmax in .204. We compared the windage in the field and compared to both my mates .204's shooting 39g BK's it was identical out to 400yds. I'm smitten with the little cal.
