activeviii
What the ell is going on?? I have had a steady increase in cartridges over the last year or so, started at around £120 per K and now we are at £150. i try to buy 2K at a time. ok with the lead price rise and fuel we all know prices will go up but whats the crack with the game dealers. last year i was getting 28p frozen and 30p fresh which just about covered the 2:1 shot ratio, didnt cover the running of the freezers or the fuel to take the birds to the dealer. i phoned a few weeks ago with a full freezer or two and was told 25P . your hav'in a laugh. i told him that i wouldn't be taking birds to him no more and it was cheaper to burn the birds. i phoned one of the other dealers only to be told the same. i do now have a good dealer that is offering me the right money but the other two. how the hell do they work that out. every thing goes up but the pigeon price goes down. so how does that work? i and a few of my pigeon shooter friends have now siad that if we dont get the 2:1 cart price for the cheap carts we use then we will be burning the birds as we are shooting the birds as crop control, unpaid so to keep shooting we need the 2:1 is it just me getting my **** out or are others thinking the same way and think the game dealers are trying to pull the wool here and we need to start saying 'fair price for birds' Phil. sitsinhedges
Can't see the point of selling birds at all myself. If I get a couple of dozen I've had a good day but at 25p each that's £6 and the game dealer is about a 50mile round trip. Wont even cover my petrol
activeviii
Im taking about 300 at a time frozen and maybe 100-150 fresh so it can help but in not going to run the freezers and more for less that 2:1 carts are around 15p each so 30p, in my mind, is a fair price. i was getting this last year and now the birds have gone down.lol not having it any more. winchester12
Suerly it is better to sell them at a loss than burn them and make nothing? At least then they are being used for something.
sitsinhedges
Restaurants will pay a premium price for them if you can find one that does game dishes. I'm getting £3 a rabbit that way
Tim Kelly
It's a hobby, not a job. Hobbies are expensive. The game dealer is offering you Market price, they don't and shouldn't care that your costs have gone up, if they can get as many as they need for less money they're not going to pay you more to subsidise your hobby! activeviii
ok so you shoot pigeons it cost your pocket, ok thats a loss as its your 'Hobby' what about buying and running the freezers and the fuel to get the birds to the deal, is that a 'Hobby' as well or is it just the british way that we do as we are told and just put up with it. I shoot pigeons as a pest, ok i have other reasons but they are shot as pests and done as cheap as i can. im not going to throw even more money away to take birds to the dealer, if you wish to then so be it but im not not more.
