southeastpete
Hi, im thinking about shelling out on a night vision monocular and an IR laser, to make lamping bunnies a slightly easier task. What sort of price do you knowledgable types think i should be looking at for an IR laser, and a NV monocular. Im seeing second hand monoculars for about £35-50 and IR lasers for £115 but then i saw this site, is this the sort of laser id be after? http://www.ankaka.com/infrared-ir-laser-module-focusable-dot-m808d25051660-250mw-808nm_p47338.html Cheers pete

bennyblanco
I would be surprised if you can fit a £35 monocular on the back of a day scope, the adaptors cost nearly a hundred although its possible to make your own. Remember the monocular really needs to be 1x magnification to be able to use the day scopes crosshair and not many come in less than 2-3x. That laser module can be modified to work but needs a lens to stop it producing a wide flat beam of light, I have one sitting here as a spare for my bought laser. Google the n1000 laser plus the cobra merlin monocular and day scope adaptor which is a good place to start. HTH ben
southeastpete
cheers, i wasnt thinking of using the monocular on the back of a sight, more of on a headset, with the laser on my 410 hushpower... will check out your suggestions though
bennyblanco
Sorry mate-wrong end of the stick. Any monocular is going to need a lot of ir light and there is a fair amount of focusing needed, what about a barrel mounted torch? should be good for shotgun ranges. ben
stubby
dont take this wrongly, but you'll be wasting your money, the whole point of night vision is to see, without being seen or heard, the rabbits will still run after a shot with a sub sonic in a hushpower, your far better off just sticking a small lamp and filter under your barrel, that way, walking between fields should see more success
