Shink
So I've been wondering. Would anyone else see value or benefit in a website which allowed you to organise the social side of shooting? I'm thinking a calendar focussed site which allows people to say when and where they're going and arrange meets. Benefits / features might be: - Find someone to shoot with if you're new or your usual mates are busy. - Arrange forum meets. - Find new shooters of the same sort of level to shoot with and learn from. - Find out where your friends are going to be shooting on any given weekend. Would this work, do you think? Is it something you'd use? Forums already exist - is there a clay focussed site you wished did exist?
semiautolee
sounds like a plan..... but how many people would actually use it??! and how many people actually want there details of where they are going, doing, who with, what socks they have on etc etc??. i dont think there would be many
Barney86
Setting up an entirely new site for this would be very hard work. Joining it on to an existing site/forum will be easier (GunWatch is a perfect example). In theory, good idea. In practice, "shooting available" and "General Chat / xyz meet-up" are already available here.
Chard
I think a lot of people use this site for arranging their shooting life. I use this and Facebook. Most of my shooting mob are Facebookers and if they're not on one, I can usually find them on the other. That's not to say there isn't room for another site, but with good networking opportunities in place already, it might be a bit of an uphill struggle to get a new one off the ground

Shink
Your comments all make sense. And I agree, a new site is only as good as the need for it. So... Is there anything in the world of shooting you wish you could do online but can't? Are there any regular obstacles to organising shoots, practice, meets, getting to comps? A better directory of shootign grounds with better contact info would be good shootforum have a good user generated map but the map "womble" can struggle with updates. Phone numbers are often wrong, details and directions vague, some grounds and clubs just don't want to be found. Some times asking for direct info gets no response
edr
Have a word with agincourtech ltd. Simon was proposing STEADYPEG.COM a year and a bit ago; don't know how far he got with the project though? That was designed for game shooting with exactly the same princle in the thought processes. ATB EDR
