It's illegal to post an Air weapon as way of trade, according to the Violent crime reduction act 2006 (or 2007? can't remember).

So, if you are doing it privately, it's perfectly legal. If you are doing it 'As way of trade' (Making a taxable income off it) then you've got to be an RFD and do it face to face.

Too long, didn't read? ; As long as the person you are sending it too can legally hold it (over 18) and you don't make a habit of it, then yes you can.

It's not illegal to send an air pistol in the post. Whether or not the courier you wish to use will accept it is another matter. Most simple way to find out is to ask. I've send air rifles by royal mail special delivery several times, but not perhaps in the last year or two. I don't suppose much has changed though.

it is my understanding that royal mail has to still carry airguns after a ruling from postcomm, as long as the item meets size requirements for the service (NOT parcleforce),so standard parcel or special delivery, if you wish to cover yourself then you can mark your package as sporting goods :good: hope it helps, all the best rob
