Vipa
Guys Just taken delivery of my S&B 5-25x56 PMII. Can other PMII users out there give me a heads up on the illumination please... The illuminated dot on my Swaro Z6i can be clearly seen in bright daylight meaning, placed on a beast in shadow during the day, the aiming point is clearly visible... I bet if I turned it up full and pointed it at the sun I'd still be able to see it..... well, at least for a couple of seconds before I went blind! Anyhoo..... back to the PMII.... sat in my office with bright daylight outside, I can only see the illuminated crosshair from setting 5 onwards (i'm looking down under my desk) and the illumination only appears to get as bright as the night-time setting on my Z6i when I turn it up to no 11? If I look at a dark object outside, I can see no illumination at all even turned up full... again, with the Z6i I can still see a bright red dot... Is this normal for the PMII... I have asked the question of the supplier and he informs me that whilst the Z6i is designed for fast target aquisition and tracking even in daylight, the illumination on the PMII is designed for very poor light/night time use only, not daylight use... is this correct? If it is, the scope is awesome (suppose it should be really!) if not, I need to return it. Thanks Paul

Beardo
my S&B Klassik Variable has a similar illumination - you can only really see it when cranked up full in daylight
Vipa
I havent seen an MSR on the 5-25 but it is extremely fine. Its the one some refer to as the sport reticle i think? Are you on 2FP? Nope... FFP... My primary use of this scope (atop my TRG) is tactical/practical competition so I needed range finding capabilities for 'unknown range - known target size' comps. The MSR ret is brand new, I can say with almost total confidence that I own, quite probably the only one in the UK! Have been waiting for it since January, S&B only shipped them to Finnaccuracy 4 weeks ago and mine has just arrived from Finland. http://www.finnaccuracy.com/sb_pm2_MSR_special_reticle_en.html Bootiful
Vipa
my S&B Klassik Variable has a similar illumination - you can only really see it when cranked up full in daylight So it is really an ambient light thing rather than a daylight 'dark' target thing as with the Swaro? Vipa
Are they grey importers then? No, not really, they are a specialist optics supplier(Danish & US military seem to be their biggest markets.) The MSR reticle (their design) can be retrofitted by S&B directly, but the only source worldwidec of the MSR ret in a new S&B is direct from Finnaccuracy. I was introduced to it on a US tactical shooters website... the product has been in the design & making for well over a year. Same place I was introduced to Sphur mounting hardwear from Norway... I've got one of their Sniper/Marksman mounts cradling my PMII in front of me as we speak... http://www.spuhr.com/iframe-smsm.html

Vipa
WOW Looks even better in real life, truly awesome... I just wish S&B would do what other manufacturers do and illuminate the entire reticle. It seems a little pointless having a scope with the addition of illumination for scenarios where it is difficult to see the crosshairs without illuminating the rest of the markings as, without them visible, means it is actually pretty useless as a night-time tool.
