SteveoM
I know it's only been 2 weeks since I picked Sam up, but touch wood the house training is going fantastic with no accidents since week one, i'm having an issue that first thing in the morning he gets that exited that he dribbles all the way to the door. I though I had resolved this by picking the dog up and carrying him to the garden, but over this weekend he has pee'd on me as I carry him. Not a lot as I said earlier just a dribble. On Sunday morning I even carried him in his crate into the garden and he left a little wet patch on his crate bedding. I left him in the garden while I changed his bedding over. As I came out into the garden he was having a pee I waited for him to finish then called him over for a quick play about. He ran over as fast as possible, rolled on his back as I stroked him and ****** all over my slippers. I've had this happen before with one of my late labs when we came back off holiday he got that exited he would pee all over my dad. Is it normal ? Can it be rectified ? Other then this the dog is fantastic
oscarsdad
My border used to wee in excitement whenever I got home but he seems to have grown out of it now and doesnt do it anymore. I am getting a cocker soon so hopefully he will be just as easy as the border!
jasons gold
It sounds like the dog is very easily excited. Try to approach the pup in a very calm manner so as not to excite him
SteveoM
we have solved the issue for now. My wife leaves him in the garden until I come down, he can see me through the patio window and after 5 mins is alot less fussy lol
Paul T
He'll grow out of it, don't worry. My wire vizsla used to be exactly the same, so I had to tiptoe downstairs and let him out with the minimum of fuss. He'd still have a little dribble en route, but it's a tiled floor and I never scolded him for it. The biggest battle we had was the use of the word 'wee'. I'd take him out last thing at night and tell him to "go wee", which he did. In fact he would go on command whenever the word "wee" was mentioned. Great at home, but not at someone elses house when they suddenly utter "Is he ok? Does he need to wee...? ...Oh, I'll just get a cloth then" As a pup he couldn't help squirting everywhere either when he got very excited, and many's the time the father-in-law has had to dry his trousers and shoes :o . Poor dog got a bit of a reputation, but thankfully those days are long gone and he's absolutely fine now. Just be patient and keep your pup as calm as possible first thing in the morning. It's not their fault and he'll get there eventually . Edited May 24, 2011 by Paul T
