Stratts
Just wondering if you store magazines loaded in your ammo safes or not? I've only been out a couple of times and loaded my CZ 10 round mags then unloaded them before putting everything back in the gunsafe and ammo safe. It would be a lot easier if I just kept the mags loaded and same for my Rapid 7 mags too, but not sure if it's the correct thing to do or not. I also store the rifle bolt in with the ammo and only put it in the rifle when I get onto my permission. What do you guys do? Cheers
shoughton
I used to unload my CZ .22 mags too - but then reading about the theory of springs and spring life it is clear that there is no need. It is the repeated compressing/releasing that wears a spring, not necessarily just being compressed. Hence my mags now go back in the safe however they are when I return. And yes, I always keep the rifle bolt (and the 410 bolt) in the ammo safe too. It's easy to do so and it also saves just a little room in the rapidly filling gun cabinet Steve
stubby
its illegal to have loaded mags whilst traveling to your permission, far better to wait untyil your there to load, and unload as/before you leave

I shall continue as before then for the sake of a few minutes, Cheers
Dunkield
its illegal to have loaded mags whilst traveling to your permission, And yes if I am out regularly I will leave mags loaded in my cabinet, if I know I won't be out for a bit I unload them. Anyone who says just load/unload when you get there, doesn't know how close I am to deer when I arrive at my land.

CZ550Kevlar
You can carry a loaded magazine while driving around etc so long as you have a lawfull excuse, so in my case i load a magazine or 3 when i get to my permissions, do my bit then go back to the car or whatever then drive 5 mins to my next field along public roads, this is ok as because i`m out shooting and travelling between fields. Just make sure at the very least you drop the mag from the rifle and you will be fine.
