pegasus bridge
last night i shot a rabbit at approx 212 mtrs (got this from google earth), hit the rabbit in the chest, front on, skinned it and it had smashed the front end bones/ flesh badly - then i noticed the plastic tip had come away from the bullet and was left lodged just underneath the skin. i have never seen this before - infact - its the first debris that i have managed to find since using the hmr on the rabbits. anyone else seen this? triscrx
I found some HMR debris last week not unusual if you hit bone. 200Mtrs+ is quite a distance

njc110381
I've found fragments of lots of bullets, and all sorts of calibres too. It's interesting to see what a bullet does when it hits. In fact it's amazing how the designers can get them to be so consistant considering the speed they fly at! I'm surprised you didn't find more traces. Little shards of copper jacket aren't unusual at all but at that sort of range the bullet may not have broken up so well? What was the exit wound like? pegasus bridge
It didn't look like it had an exit wound at first, but on skinning it, I found a fair bit of damage to flesh and bone, and several irregular small exits through the skin, and the plastic tip was lodged just underneath the skin, did have a root a around but couldn't find any metalic bits - i suspect anything left had the momentum to carry on through - open to suggestions though. Redgum
I have found bits of blue tip but never completly intact, also bits of jacket but really only on head shots. A little bit of lead, copper or poly won't kill you I'm sure, I have eaten loads of game shot with 12bore so must have eaten a fair bit,my father more and he's a spritley 85 year old and his water came through lead pipes for alot of years of his life.(Does weigh a bit though )
