No once you sell your 22 rf to someone that has a spare slot for 1 you would send in your license for a 1 for 1 and replace it with what ever you like. If you want to replace it with another 22 but also say want a 223 you could swap your fac air slot for a 223 slot which would be a 1 for 1 therefor free of charge. If you fill your .22LR slot and then sell it, you will need to ask for a 1 for 1 to reopen that slot. It's free and should only take a day or two, if you can get to your FLD to drop it off/pick it up. A one for one is an alteration to your FAC which means you neither lose or gain anything, so you could 1 for 1 a sound mod for a rifle. It doesn't work like a SGC, sadly.. Coolhead
FAC permissions are one-off's. If you acquire a firearm using that permission it is spent. If you dispose of the item you cannot replace it with another like with shotguns. However, if you request a one-for-one variation at the same time as you dispose of the item they will usually open an identical permission to acquire. A one-for-one is to replace one "permission to acquire" with a different one without increasing the overall number of permissions on the ticket. No it's no less bother than opening a fresh permission but it is free. The police like to call entries "permission to acquire" but we holders use the simpler term "slot." mosa
Nick if you do sell a gun. Send your licence back to them within 7 days as they may charge you again for the variation. They are funny like that at times. ps if you already have a .22 and want to swap your fac air for another .22 they will ask why you want another one so you need to show good reason etc (ie another .22 with dedicated night vision for example)
