Lewis F
Hi guys, Had a little problem with the spaniel today!! Whilst out on our evening work session, she was going really well on dummies then we moved on to this patch which is full of rabbits and I could see one so I got the dog to quarter up to it, and she just ran completely over the top didn't even realise it was there!! Any body got any hints/tips on how to correct this?! Any advice will be great! Lewis
mpk
Maybe the wind Was blowing the scent in an odd way and she just missed it
chrispti
Too much fresh scent. If the rabbit sat still she could easily of missed it. Train her somewhere where theres not so many rabbits. A rabbit pen in an ideal world.
kent
could just be poor scenting conditions? though if you chastise a hunting type gundog enough for being unsteady instead of rewarding and encouraging dropping to flush etc they will often learn to ignoor game though look good in questing still. Is this maybee possible in this case? If so it can be cured but its harder than steadying up
Lewis F
Hi, Thanks for all the reply's! I feel it may of just been poor scenting as went out the next day slight breeze, the dogs head was down and was flushing a few rabbits so I'm probably worrying over nothing! Thanks again, Lewis
