I've never set a fire in a pen, but have taken wood fire ash, and scattered it under the shelters, as has been said, the pheasants love dusting in the ash. They also enjoy eating the various grubs and bugs that rotting wood creates. webber
Alycidon
Dont spread pallet ash though, the preservatives used on pallets are harmfull to human health. These collect in the ash, maybe your birds injest some and finish up in the human food chain. A
Quist
Alycidon is right, only burn non processed wood, you don't want the birds ingesting staples and nails from the ash either
