I live near Milton keynes.......quiet happy generally with the service at my local gun shop.....they went out of their way to get me the gun i wanted.

Nothing fancy a single barreled baikal hushpower moderated 12g.

I use mostly size 7.5 28gm eley cartridges through it which are very quiet but i liked using number 6's in my old unmoderated gun (noise became an issue near and on equestrian land- also i dont like wearing hearing defenders and found that when rough shooting everything was warning before i got into the field so i am quiet happy with my silenced gun)

however been up the shop today and they said it will take a month befor ethey have subsonic 6's in 32gm for me as their order arrives today................

How long does everyone else have to wait for orders of specific cartridges? I have asked for 250 today? anyone know any gunshops near me that stocks subsonic 12g cartridges as standard?

this is my first topic on this forum.......

here i am clay pigeon shooting last night, my son took the picture , we take it in turns to hand throw the clays and shoot, he is 12 but already 6foot tall and can handle the gun as well (if not better on occasions than me)

pm sent.

you really should start making your own subsonics. they are much better than factory, because you can use any shotsize you want.

there has been many threads about it.

i`ve made 32g subsonic no.4s and they are good. you can use then single handed.

thanks for the fast replies...........i dont have the equipment time or patience to load my own but thanks for the thought.

Just cartridges........did consider them but to make an order from them worthwhile it needs to be a big one (more than i would use) I could drive there but by the time i would have free time to go there my local shop would have had them in

I think that 32gm subsonics in number 6 are just not regularly stocked or used.......getting 7.5 28gm carts (clay carts) are very easy......i will just have to be patient

loading isnt for everyone. each to their own.

if you continually have problems with getting "your" cartridges in, then it is a viable option. in the rare case this can work out cheaper with better performance.

enjoy your "quiet" time !

dont you need a seperate licence to load your own? and isn't the loading equipment expensive?

I agree it would make getting exactly what you want far easier.......and i should imagine the urge to customise your loads would take over..........

i have about 150 of the subsonic 7.5 carts left plus a few odd's and s od s that are in a draw (not subsonic, 4's 5's etc...) , so have more than enough to last me till the shop gets those i ordered in, i suppose i was really wondering what the choice is like at everyone elses nearest gunshops........shotguns in principle are all very alike, the different uses we employ them in is more to do with different cartridges......you can shoot clays, rabbits, wildfowl, geese and foxes with teh same gun just using different cartridges......so it always amazes me when shops dont stock a wider variety of cartridges

no seperate licence.

buy powder and primers by showing your licence.

loading machines can be 50 or 350 quid.

shotguns are versatile.

loading machines make them better.
