  6. Something i forgot on my initial response and i remebered yesterday. The antidote to most second generation anticoagulant rodenticide poison is vitamin k. Corn and hen food is corn rich is high in vit k so even if you get the rats to eat the poison they will also be eating an antidote. The suggestions regards poison should be ignored. Traps and a bit of shooting are yhe way forward Something i forgot on my initial response and i remebered yesterday. 10. Springers are simple, I like simple things, less to break/go wrong Only ever had springers, have used pcp's owned by family and friends. But I think its too complcated with charging bottles and such. I do pest control now and am looking for a new air rifle for those occasional pigeon shoots, a colleague has a pcp....... I'm looking at another springer

    Moles

Where abouts do you live? Can someone go and set a trap for you?
  13. I am considering selling one of my shotguns to buy a new air rifle. I have a 20 year old chinese air rifle, that is throwing out 5.9 lbs pressure,(a mate chrono'd it) I recently killed a couple of pigeons in a warehouse with it...... However I am looking at either getting one of these hatsans if I sell a shottie, or trying to fit a new spring to my old chinese jobby. I work around sheffield and believe there is a shop in sheffield that sells these too And the comparisons to cheap cars, I have a new dacia, nearly 75 mpg and its new
  14. Rats need to get used to traps before they will enter them
  15. As a hen keeper and a pro pest controller I wouldn't use poison. Too much risk of secondary poisoning. Definetley don't use loose grain and blocks are dodgy too. Permanently set fenn traps around the perimetre and under the hen house are best, rats will get used to them and its a permanent protection.

    Moles

A lot depends on soil type, weather conditions and other environmentl factors. I use half barrel mole traps, a friend swears by talpex mole traps (they are good and easier to set) It is relatively dry at the minute so the moles will be in longer undergrowth areas, when its dry they tend to leave shortly mown lawns. They will probably come bck towards the autumn/early winter so keep the trap(s) and see what happens. If you want advice from a pro pester please feel free to pm me.

    Travellers

I worked on the door of a club near a travellers site....... They never caused me any problems, they were respectful and well behaved, boisterous and liked a drink but nowt compared to the local hardcases or the polish labourers..... I treated them with respect and a firm line and they reciprocated....... I know they aren't all the same though
  18. Only asked for others, I've got enough ferrets currently, just your ad didn't say where. Good luck with them
  19. That's only a hundred cartridges, an excuse to go buy some and have a shoot.......
  20. I am imagining by someone being in your home and being "humped" by the dog they are a friend or at least a friendly neighbour, as such being asked to help wouldn't be such a shock and they would know you and the dog already? Unless the dog is raping strangers in the park?

    Orgreave

Problem is you have a crowd being held back by a line of coppers (This isn't taking sides as I have been on both sides, its an explanation of human nature) It only takes one ***** in the crowd, he hits a copper, the police arrest him. The crowd angry and upset for justifiable reasons and feeling victimised by the state already, see what they consider a colleague and fellow righteous campaigner being manhandled by the authorities (he is in fact a ***** who couldn't peacefully protest like the rest) The crowd reacts, the police counter act and you end up with what happens at lots of protests (it happened at the CA march) Not saying this is what happened at orgreave but I would be surprised if it wasn't something similar......one person on either side of the divide puts a foot wrong and it all kicked off.....that's all it takes when tensions are already raised, the police react and its hard to see the trouble makers as they all blend in. I believe a lot of protests these days are infiltrated by people who want to evoke such violence for whatever reason
  24. Oh so risk adverse. Don't you know how your own dog would react if slapped? I do, mine would slink away. This isn't an aggresive dog its one with dominance issues, trying to assert itself on everyone. Don't allow it to and encourage others to help keep it where it belongs. The reason I am so anti castration is a lot of vets are working on business loans they used to set up the practice and part of the business model they use is to neuter all animals to generate money. It wouldn't help this dog, he would and could be even more unsettled and confused about his place in the pecking order.
