Hi Norrie

I have a mate who deals in grain all over the uk and he lives near kelso,i will give him a ring tomorrow and see if he has any contacts near falkirk.Nice pond by the way.Barley will be better for ducks or if you can get spuds that have had a bit of frost on them or chuck them in the freezer first, they will eat them aswell

ABN definitely have a mill at Cupar. Not sure if they'll do a tonne but worth asking. Google will throw up phone numbers.

Good luck,

Jon

Thanks J

on, will give it a go tomorrow...;)

BTW, Thanks Mods for moving this to the correct section...:)

Your best bet it to go along and approach a farmer with some barley [or wheat whatever you decide]. A tonne wouldn't count as 'bulk' to a corn merchant!

When we had more hens we used to buy a tonne and a half a year and go along and bag it ourselves. Used to get the stuff that had been rejected as biscuit wheat and got it cheap. Took a couple of us maybe an hour to bag and load 60 bags, and to be honest they had more than 25KG - must have lead best part of two tonnes! Not a bad job if you have somewhere to store it and a supply of bags (plastic bags!)

The best thing to fill bags is first your hands then a bucket, far faster than a shovel. Learn how to tie the bags, and if you overfill and can't tie them off you'll be sorry.
