how much powder is in a 50 gram shell?

my grandad is looking into reloading his foxing shells and wants to make3 inch 50 gram bb's. but he's trying to work out the cost per shell but cant work out how much the powder will cost per cartridge, as he's not sure how much each shell needs can anyone help him please?

you would need a slow burning powder to push that much lead.

 

31 grains blue dot up to 36 grains depends on wad primer etc

 

Would get recipe for the powder you want to use

Powder would be 7 or 8pence per cartridge if you use Vectan AO

 

Before you do anything else you need to get a suitable recipe though or you wont know what components you're pricing

tecna is more expensive but does run cartridges at lower pressures, and usually higher speeds.

I buy 50gm bb's from my local gunshop and there 50ish pence a cartrige.I'll ask a couple of mates that load shotguns cartriges what they think

1.9g of tecna at £50 per kg,

so 5p a gram. 9.5p per shot.
