This famous name was James Purdey's apprentice before marrying his daughter Eliza.

This was my main gun of last season. It has 30 inch barrels and a 14.3/4" stock which is slightly right hand cast. As you can see from the photo's it has a good piece of highly figured wallnut with matching forend. Both the forend and stock have benefitted from being recheckered before last season.

The locks are totally covered with best rose and scroll engraving, which at some point in its life has been gold washed, however the majority of this has worn away leaving a siver action with a gold hue. Both the triggers retain their gold plating.

Both hammers are matching, and when viewd from the top are engraved to look like pheasants heads, a nice touch.

The barrels are nitro proofed and have been resleeved at some point in its long life. It has a concaved rib and brass bead. The only minor problem being that it sounds like their is some sand or dust inside the rib. When the barrels are at full tilt you can hear it run down the inside. I have had this checked out and the rib is fully intact, not loose at all. The steel barrels are blacked, however this is thin where the many hands have held it over the year.It is a none ejector, and has good shiney bores with no pitting at all. The barrel walls are thick, and have many a year of shooting left in them. If looked after properly, it will outlive me for sure! (I'm only 29!)Sorry, I don't know what it is choked at, but I would guess quarter and half.

I also have a letter of authenticity for this gun, from Lang themselves, stating that it was a snap action hammergun produced in 1894 and the name of the owner, which I have since found out was a famous opera star of the day! I will provide you with a copy of this letter.

This is a fine gun and I will be sad to see it go, but I need the funds to put towards my new gun.

I am asking for £300 ono.

I can also arrange rfd at £20.

Pm me to get my attention.
