Gonna Shoot a Wabbit
Dear pigeonwatch faithful hope you can help. A friend of mines spaniel is driving him nuts, the dog sustained a small injury to the top of its paw some time ago (small graze) that has healed nicely and been inspected by the vet. the problem is that the dog will not stop licking the site of said graze. Numerous trips to the vets have all resulted in a "nothing wrong" diagnosis and the vet is of the opinion it is just habit formed now (like some bite their nails). He has tried all sorts of lotions and potions, bandages and socks all to no avail as the dog insists any covering is coming off. The site is now stained from constant licking and a callous is forming. Has anyone dealt with this sort of problem before? or got any ideas i can pass along? Thanks for reading, rgds Ade
apache
It has formed a lick granuloma from the constant licking. Your mate has to stop the dog licking and break the cycle. Buster collar often the best way if he won't tolerate a bandage on it. They get better if you can stop dog licking. No easy answer here
