ferretman_2009
Thought i had set up in right place after watching field for hour and half but after only 9 dead in first 2 hours and watching pigeons flying about 40 yards up hedge i moved the hide but left decoys same place even tho some headed in to decoys 74 bit the dust on the flyte line
fenboy
excellent result, i would have gone the whole hog and moved the decoys too though.

motty
Well done, think i have read somewhere that you should move if you havent got anything within an hour. That isn't the case. If you know your ground and are fairly sure that birds will arrive, it can often pay dividends to stay put. I shot 80 odd on drilled barley this year but had to wait almost 3 hours for the birds to switch on. If however, birds are piling onto another area of the field - or different field altogether - it makes sense to move if you can.

Ageed a few years ago I was set up on a field I knew there had been lots of pigeon on a few days before sat there from about 9 till around 2 and had about 3 shots I then shot 97 in the next hour and a half I have had bigger bags but I have never had pigeons come in as fast or decoy so well since it was impossible at times to reload quick enough
Batch
I had the same result a couple of weeks back as you Ferret. Set the pattern out in a flat patch of rape and proceeded watch the birds give it a wide birth!! So moved the hide and left decoys where they were, worked a treat for 21 pigeons!! Did feel rather strange and against all I have learnt to set up decoys and then move 60 yards away from them. Could well be another tactic for the future
