Mr Teapot
Well went to the CLA on sunday to buy some pigeon decoying equipment i was on a tight budget so had to shop around. I picked up a hide and poles for £50.00 And ten folocked decoys for £25.00 I have just started decoying so i dont have a clue about any of it to be honest I know its not alot but its a start and i can build up over time. What do you folks think did i do well or not?
kyska
Looks ok to me mate, hide is plenty big enough. Maybe invest in some wobbly deek pegs.
pegasus bridge
its a good start , i would definitley look at getting a flapper next, and some 'bouncers' which do a good job of making your pattern visible from a greater distance. happy shooting
dhumble5
A good start mate but get a bouncer or flapper to ad movement to your pattern.
jez28
Defo get a floater, used one yesterday worked a treat!
Redditch
The poles and hide are good, as are the decoys. As already said, get a couple of flappers and bouncers, and when money will allow add a rotary magnet. Good place to pick up extra decoys is on ebay, you can pick up some used bargains there if you´re on a budget. Also check the trading post on here, always something about for those ona budget The odd crow and magpie decoy will also help bring them in. THEINVISIBLESCARECROW
A Crow decoy is worth getting, don't put it in the Pigeon pattern though, out to one side as a confidence booster. I wouldn't bother with a Magpie decoy. Get out & learn & you'll get some idea of what you need & then buy what you need. Quite different to what you think you want, you don't need all that you want. Wobble sticks, 12 shells plus a bouncer with a shot bird are good needs. Good seat if you use a net, good camo if you don't. Consider a hat or viel & gloves, some don't use, some consider essential. Pocket binos come in handy & a good handy want // possible need but a knife to cut some neck props if you shoot some "fresh decoys" is a need. 50 full body, rotary, flapper decoy, extra shells, peckers, cradles, 2 extra huge kit bags, wheelbarrow etc etc etc are all wants. Oh yes, sarnies & flask are wants on good days, a need on blank days. Get out there & wear you kit out, that's what you bought it for
