Ok, it's a new gun to me, and as you do, I was 'playing' with it earlier.

It has snap caps that were in and I was pulling the trigger, however, I found that it was only 'firing' once. When I pulled the trigger again there was nothing, if I set and unset the safety it would then fire the other barrel.

Does it need a cartridge fired in it to reset the trigger? Have I set something and not realised? Or, is it going straight back to the gun shop?

It's 10 years old but the condition suggests very light use.

Most guns do just that when "dry" firing them, as the enigma said, it's the recoil from the first shot which sets the mechanism to switch to the second barrel.

You can usually replicate this by smacking the butt pad (moderately hard) after the first trigger pull then the second barrel will "fire" and both snap caps will eject.
