eredel
Whilst searching some old boxes I came across my old cartridge belt and it was loaded with old J. Ling 1 1/16 oz 7 shot Supreme Game cartridges. They're lightly rusty, not surprising for about 35 years old ( the phone number on them is 3 digits!!!)so not really shootable. How do I dispose of them or are they collectable? Eric.
libs
Brush off the 'light' rust and make them go bang! I know of carts doing 30 years+ in the right conditions and still working fine.

A bit reluctant to put them through the Miroku but I suppose I could stick 'em through the old SBS ....unless someone wants them for their collection of course... Eric. Grandalf
If they go bang then they wont/can't damage the gun. The shot that goes up the tube wont be rusty or anything like that. Jimmy (Thumper) Ling's was in the next village to mine - Hoxne in North Sufflok. He stopped trading, due age and health, about three years ago. Still lives there as far as I know. The business, but not the name, was bought out by Clarkes of Walsingham but they are nothing like Jimmy and Beryl's old shop when it comes to prices. The cartridges are off to a collector for a small donation to charity so I won't have to shoot them and a collector is happy... I used to buy all my cartridges from Jimmy back in the 70's and probably a couple of guns, the last one was a secondhand Lames O/U which I found one of the best guns I'd shot with and was my last gun before packing in shotguns.....now, after 35 years it's full circle and I'm enjoying the "kick" all over again! I actually buy some of my cartridges etc from Clarkes (good prices but not the same atmosphere as Jimmy's)as it's on my way to Drinkstone. Eric. PS...would that be Stradbroke? Grandalf
Pleased to say that my syndicate enjoys the hospitality of the Fox and Goose for its after shoot dinners. Can't ever decide whether we are a shooting or dining syndicate. I do know we are a sociable and happy one one.

I quite understand what you're saying...been a year or two since the wife and I ate there but I can state quite categorically it was one of the best dining experiences of my life!! I think it's about time I booked us in there for a treat! Eric.
saggy61
These may be worth a few pennys as Jimmy is no longer trading, I got one of my first shotguns from his shop in Hoxne many years ago, He was a dry old stick but he knew his stuff.
