how do i know if my fac is open or closed, cheers

It will clearly say so on your conditions.

It will say something like: Quarry - Vermin/Ground Game - (Experienced Open) or (Closed Novice)

Plus if it "Closed" it will say something like: ......shall be used for the shooting of vermin and ground game and for zeroing on ranges, or land deemed suitable by the chief officer of police...... But if it is "Open" it should say something like: for the shooting of vermin/ground game and for zeroing on ranges, or land over which the holder has lawful authority to shoot.

The key wording (If it is a closed certificate) is when it says "On land deemed suitable by the chief officer of police"!

Hope this helps mate!
