speed controller

right guys, today i decided to take my speed controller to bits as the turny k n o b doesnt seem to control the speed anymore?? when i turn it nothing happens :hmm:

 

so when i opened it up i have found a break in the circuit board :rolleyes: see pic below!

 

what i was wondering was can i just solder the break back up ??? or is it just for the bin now??

 

its the only one i have and i need it ahhhh!

 

any advice chaps?? :good::good:

To be fair i find them a bit pointless, I had one, more hassle than they are worth, took it off and set the rig up straight to the battery with the crocodile clips! Much easier, clip clip, round and round all day long!

 

 

my batterys dont stay charged anylonger than 4 hours on full speed tho :good:

Can't be certain without seeing it in the flesh, but..

 

it looks as though 3 tracks have been overheated and burn't off the solder resist? The one arrowed has also blown the copper tracking (a bit like a fuse).

In theory you could easily solder a bit of wire over the break - BUT there must be a reason why it melted in the first place and odds are that one or more components are also goosed.

 

Probably time to look for a replacement. Now where have I seen one advertised :hmm:
