JustJon
Hi, I went up to sporting targets this afternoon and had a lesson - did birds going away, across, rabbits and - most importantly - a bird off the tower going straight over my head! Now that's a rush when you hit it! Loved that thing. I know how much clay traps are but think I can fit a tower in my back garden? What's your favourite target style or stand? sg1
I like overheads especially coming towards me, when you push through to cover the bird with the barrel/s and it just 'vanishes' followed by a fine shower of clay particles then you know "yep, smoked that one" atvb sg1
loomer
Not one bird, I know, but I really like a nice quick simo pair. Either crossers or a variation of. Each bird separately I would probably hit less than when they are a pair, less time to overthink the shot I reckon. I straightened a stand last weekend like that when everyone else struggled with them.
JustJon
That's fair comment though loomer - it was one stand or target! The quartering bird off the tower challenged me! Oh well - back next week for some more hints, tips and tricks no doubt!
COACH
Loooooooopers, the further away the better, I love them.
sg1
We were shooting 70 yard+ springing teals two weeks ago, it's strange having a full half second gap between bang and break atvb sg1
ack-ack
Rabbits. Never seen anybody do great at them so its the one stand that I don't look like a complete chop
Bad Monkey
What's your favourite target style or stand? Being relatively inexperienced, i'd have to say....the one's that i hit!
JustJon
Been for a play with a mate and his clay trap tonight - didn't have a tower though.
Spara Dritto
I love any target on the sporting layout. My favourites though are fast, long distance crossers (any angle, left right or diagonal), Teals - of any angle and fast bouncing rabbits. The further out the better, there isn’t anything more satisfying! Bar sex. Edited August 11, 2011 by Beretta Italy
mark@mbb
I bought a fully automatic clay trap from the midland game fair of promatic and collected from there works in Cheshire we put it on a 7meter telehandler and pratice it is remote control and moves up and down but we still dont hit them we may need lessons Mark
sg1
going to Goodwood this Sunday where they have a High pheasant stand which I keep trying to master..... well, when I say high pheasant it 'should' be called ORBITAL pheasant atvb sg1
Dibs
Anything not crossing at the moment, going through a phase over the last couple of shoots of lifting my head, stopping my gun and missing! Do like the high driven off the towers at highlodge or Sporting Targets. The driven over the cliff stand at Hodnet on the PW shoot was a lovely target.
