Redgum
I have been lucky enough to come across someone having a clear out and have some cheap once fired 243 brass, also 100 new cases. Think I read somewhere that its best to full size new brass, is this correct and what is Winchester brass like. Theres some sierra 85grain spitzers and some nosler 57gr( I think ) going, if anyones interested I could ask the chap for a price on them, it would have to be person to person so local to Gloucester or I will be at the Midland. phaedra1106
To answer the original question, Winchester brass is OK, not great but not bad. I always full length size and check trim length of new cases, only takes a few minutes and saves any problems. If you get the chance go for lapua or Norma brass, very nice stuff

I am always amazed how people that sell used brass always state it is once fired - is it always just once fired??!! Hm... if cars did not have a mileometer I suppose all car sales people would be saying less than 5000 miles..........
kent
Resize it full length adjust you die till the bolt goe down without any real forse slowly in stages. Yes F.L all brass thats not been fired in the same gun. Nowt wrong with wichester brass for hunting its a good choice as you don't get upset when you loose the odd piece
Redgum
I have full sized stacks of brass, mainly Federal and Remington, just this lot was just to good to refuse 100 new and 200 once fired (I know the chap quite well so trust that info) for 10 euros. Have never owned new brass before, just reloaded what I have used, found both federal and remington to be ok,normally going to 10 reloads plus.I always deprime fired brass and clean before sizing whether full or neck. Though I have found lee dies to work well I'm looking forward to seeing if the redding f/s die performs better than the lee.(bought redding f/s and seating die set cheap as well, hardly used). phaedra1106
I am always amazed how people that sell used brass always state it is once fired - is it always just once fired? There are quite a few members where I shoot that either don't target shoot or use enough ammo to be interested in reloading and will happily throw away once fired brass when they use the range. Unfortunately it seems to be mainly PPU ammo so the brass is not that great, it's ok for a few more loads but not up to Lapua/Norma/Federal Match standards. Hm... if cars did not have a mileometer I suppose all car sales people would be saying less than 5000 miles.......... Thats a little unfair, I backed out of one deal lately when the guy said "once fired" but it was sized etc. and then he claimed he bought it as once fired, yet i got another batch of genuine once fired factory Norma cases from someone else. Buyer beware but there are plenty who don't reload or wish to use other brass after saving or sell the rifle before they load for it etc
