You can't use the bolt action slot on your ticket for semi auto , (or as the FEO's prefer to call it- Self loading) So if you want to add a slot for Self loading then fine(providing you can give good reason for wanting one) but you may as well retain your Bolt action slot by doing a 1 for 1 variation at the same time (which is FREE) so you'll only have to pay £26.00 for the self loader slot instead of an extra £26.00 in future if you decide to get another bolt action. IIRC , the ONLY way to get around a £26.00 fee is to do the changes at the same time as FAC renewal so depending on how long your ticket has to run , it may be worth waiting a month or two , Oh and DO NOT FORGET to put down for sound moderator at same time as variation if you haven't got one down already as moderators need to go down in their own slots and will cost you £26.00 if you need to add one later . The Walther G22 is quite a nice lightweight, futuristic looking semi with built in laser but 'can' have issues with going full auto!! which is a serious no no!! (I personally would like a P90 variant but that's only because I like Stargate ) atvb sg1
Colster
You can't use the bolt action slot on your ticket for semi auto , (or as the FEO's prefer to call it- Self loading) It wouldn't matter anyway, you couldn't buy another bolt action either, without going through the motions of a variation. Regardless of what you're applying for, the fee of £26 only applies if, as a result of the variation, you would have more slots on your FAC. The basic procedure though: Sell your gun and fill in the usual notification form, send it off with your FAC and Form 101, (same form you filled in when you first applied) - this time you don't need any photos or references though but you need to list what weapons you currently own, then under what you're applying for you put the new rifle (and moderator). Also include here any empty slots you currently have too. Send it all off to the FLO (having stocked up on ammo for any remaining guns), wait and then buy the new rifle when your licence returns with it's amendments. Luckyshot
still pretty confused lol .. so i cant do a one for one variation ? i cant sell a bolt action for a semi auto ? If you sell your ba 22 first there is no problem in doing a 1 for 1 for a sa 22 or any other firearm for that matter. As stated above you only pay the fee (£26) when your ammount of firearms increase. Edited August 9, 2011 by Luckyshot
apache
still pretty confused lol .. so i cant do a one for one variation ? i cant sell a bolt action for a semi auto ? Yes you can. Mine never specified action just .22RF rifle. I could have bough a b/a or s/a. You need to sell the b/a 1st and then send back licence for the slot opening back up. Imperfection
Hows about one of these. They're priced at just over £500 here in the UK and convert to .223 straight pull with a new upper. The barrel is screw cut for a mod if you so wish and comes with two 22 shot mags. I've used one and to be honest it was great fun.

Our FEO's are a 'little more strict/precise round our way , I mean you could have also had Lever action, falling block, rolling block atvb sg1
Katash
Take a look at the Sig 522, they are stupid money new in the UK (around £750 but only about $400 new in the US) .... may find a second hand one in your price range tho. From the youtube video reviews I've seen they beat the pants off all other tacticals.
sg1
@ Welsh Warrior, I was just wondering as to your intended use for the Semi? If it's plinking, target shooting etc then fine but if you intend to hunt with it then it 'could' cause issues with farmers, members of public(the BANE of our sport) . I have a few friends who have been frowned upon by their landowners etc when wanting to use military style firearms for bunny bashing etc even air rifles such as the Gunpower stealth seem to give off the 'wrong impression' when out in the public eye atvb sg1
welsh warrior
ah yes the public might see me as rambo with a ak47 22lr but this is my view .. if i am allowed it and i like it i will buy it. i like guns its as simple as that and i dont see anything wrong with it. same safty applies from a bb gun to a 308 and the same responablity comes with any gun. but i totaly agree with you sg1 that walking around with a lookalike assault rifle will turn heads.but i dont abuse my right to own such a gun. id never act different becuase its a semi auto. but i wont kid my self i love the tactical look of them and its something different from a bolt action. and yes it will be used for bunny bashing and a bit of target shooting and what i feel is most important is fun. aslong as your safe shooting is a brill sport and i dont know what id rather do on a sunday morning than go for a shoot . been down to my local gun shop today and they said they will order a gsg ak47 if i wanted one anybody know much about these ?
