Dunkield
EDIT... Wow - £100 for a set of mounts. I know they're good but so are Warnes at half the price! :o They come up on here and other forums all the time for half of that if not less

njc110381
Right. I'll look for some used optilocks and put the MTC on it for now. That's a sensible solution as I'm not going to be using my .223 that much but need the Deer rifle quite badly! When I find some optilocks it will be a simple enough job to change the scopes around. Snowz - I'm going to look for a set of blued mounts because it will suit the gun better. If I fail though I'll drop you a PM. Thanks for that. njc110381
I've just bought a used set of Apel mounts. Supposedly they're good (I hope they are now I've paid for them!)?
Dunkield
They should be, they make some of the best swing off mounts there are, allegedly Bit of waste for an airgun scope though
njc110381
What, my Bushnell Elite? It's quite a good scope (£400ish). A bit too much mag for stalking but I wind it down to 5x when I'm woodland shooting and it works ok. I can take it up to 15x to ID stuff or when I'm shooting from a bipod. It's got a 50mm objective lens which is of reasonable quality so it pulls in light well at low mag. An 8x56 Schmidt would be better but the one I have lives on the .338. That really does need a good scope to hold zero! I'm building my scopes up slowly - you know as well as I do that a decent one costs more than a rifle! Supposedly these mounts retail at over £200? I paid £80, so the same as a new set of Optilock rings without the bases. I'm happy enough with that as long as they're all they're as good as I'm told they are!
